Advising for electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science students at university of cincinnati, cincinnati, ohio

Undergraduate Student Advising

The Department of Electrical Engineering & Computing Systems asserts that by engaging students in academic advising, students grow and develop to become members of the University of Cincinnati community, to think critically about their role and responsibilities as engineers, and to become global citizens (National Academic Advising Association Concept of Advising 2006). With the help of academic advising, students should be able to:

  • Develop an educational plan based on individual abilities and interests
  • Utilize campus resources for goal attainment
  • Understand the relationship between curricular and co-op experiences and academic, career, and personal goals
  • Behave as professional engineers engaging in the local and global community
  • Assume responsibility for personal academic success

Academic advisors are available to assist students with course scheduling, understanding University of Cincinnati and College of Engineering and Applied Science requirements and policies, reviewing degree audits, graduation requirements, and facilitating changes of major. Co-op, faculty, and professional advisors view advising as an opportunity to develop relationships with students, address student concerns, and facilitate academic success. Advisors seek to help students develop personally and professionally.
