Ohio Graduate Student Symposium 2008

""

The four Ph.D. granting universities (in CSE) of Ohio - University of Cincinnati, Ohio State University, Kent State University and wright State University; participate in the Ohio Graduate Student Symposium (OGSS) every year. Last year, OGSS was held at University of Cincinnati. This year, the symposium was held on April 26th, 2008 at Kent State University.

OGSS is an ideal opportunity to interact with fellow researchers from other Universities in an informal setting. All the students who attended OGSS this year had loads of fun - see pictures below. The CS GSA would like to encourage students to participate more in such events and activities. Watch our website for latest news and information on such events.

This year, graduate students from these four universities presented posters about their ongoing research. 12 students from our department participated in the event. The CS Department funded the travel expenses for all the 12 students.

This year at OGSS, UC had the most representation (12 students), followed by KSU (around 5) and OSU (around 2). Students from WSU did not make it to the event. Apart from the poster symposium, there was a guest speaker Dr. Stuart Zweben talk about the CRA Taulbee Survey and also two panel discussions on: "Graduate student life" and "Career options after graduation" all of which were very interesting and informative.

UC students who participated in this event are:
