Self Study Courses on the Missing CS/CompE Semester

Overview

Many practical computer skills exist that can substantially improve the quality and efficiency of the user. Most of these skills are not formally presented in a typical CS/CompE curriculum. Fortunately several groups have created and deployed online lectures/presentation materials that can help you learn these skills. These skills are mostly presented and discussed in the context of Linux/Unix systems (which tend to be the primary working framework for many CS/CompE professionals). While most of the materials are presented in a Linux/Unix framework, most of the tools are also available for use on WinBloze and MacIntrash systems. Thus, most of you will benefit from understanding this information independent of your working compute platform.

In general these materials are sufficient for self study, however, if you run into problems understanding the presented materials stop by and ask me or some of the other computer faculty for additional background. Good luck.
